Flat Back Studs

Close-up of a model wearing hoop earrings and studs, showing earring fit for the LeMing jewelry size guide.

Flat back studs are earrings designed with a smooth, flat backing that sits comfortably against the ear. This design helps reduce irritation, making them a great choice for daily wear, cartilage piercings, and multiple earring styling.

Unlike traditional earrings with butterfly backings, flat back studs are worn with a post that is inserted from the back of the ear and secured from the front. Below is a simple guide to help you put them on and remove them properly.

Find Your Perfect Fit

Each flat back stud comes with two post length options: 5mm and 7mm.

We recommend:

  • 5mm post: Best for upper earlobe and cartilage piercings.
  • 7mm post: Best for standard earlobe piercings.

The right post length should feel secure without pressing too tightly against your ear. If the stud feels uncomfortable, too tight, or difficult to secure, try the longer post option.

How to Remove Flat Back Studs

To remove your flat back stud, gently pull the front stud and the flat back post apart.

It may require a little force, especially if the piece is securely fitted. You do not need to twist or turn the stud when removing it.

For best results, remove your earrings slowly and carefully to avoid discomfort or irritation.
